Thank you, I thought he was too and hes young but HUGE...his spurs are not even in yet theyre still bumps! I put him in with my red and brown birds till I figure out what he is a breed of...I hope my dad knows. He was too pretty to slaughter just yet. I started birds for eggs and meat and hes not even a year old according to pop and he is soooo big I want to keep him around for a while to get his chicks for sure.
He's a cross breed. He might possibly be a Dixie Rainbow (a cross breed used for meat purposes). It's very common for first generation crosses to grow and develop faster than 'pure' breeds, but it doesn't carry over to second generation crosses.
Barred mixes are gorgeous, though.
Crele is typically black and white barring with gold/red leakage. This guy is too red to be considered crele.
Well if his genetics are not gonna be passed on as far as size then the frying pan will be his new home unless he produced good layers...ughhhhh guess I will know in a year lol!!!
Crele is barring over a black breasted red. The same color as red junglefowl. Red/gold hackles, saddle, black tail and breast with a triangular tan patch on the wing. Hens are "wild bird brown".
Crele chicks- red duckwing patterned chicks with the white head spot from barring:
Crele rooster= notice the duckwing patch on wing is present and the breast is black and white barred:
Crele hen:
To see what they look like without the barring:

Crele suffers from being a well known and liked "name" that is pretty much thrown on any barred bird that shows any other color than black and white. Particularly bad example are "crele polish"- these are actually simply barring thrown over very mixed color bred and/or poorly laced gold laced polish..
Im glad to see the difference now. Well if you dont mind I would like your opinion.... I have had my buckeye hens, partridge cochins hens, NH red hen & SLW hen all in with my NH red roo H maran roo...I have loved the chicks this bunch makes. Now what would you cross this guy with? I dont want to mess up the batches Ive had because of throwing in a pretty boy to the mix lol!!! Heres what I have got so far with what Ive crossed and I just love em
Yes yes Kev!!! Thank you, I didnt mean to be rude just re-reading your info for about the 4th time to make sure it soaks in and wondering what you guys would cross him with??? Its going to help a great deal to know whats in him lol.
