Is this worrisome?

We just got our first 3 chicks today, we are very new to chickens, although we have owned several parrot's.

3 of the 6 we ordered sadly were dead on arrival and the other 3 seemed to be doing well most of the day.

Now the biggest seems to be fluffed out. I checked her vent and it was clear she seems to be eating and drinking, but I noticed her vent was opening and closing convulsively like. Is this just an indication something is coming down the shoot so to speak or is this something to worry about?

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Since you lost 3 in transit, I would get either some SaveAChick Vitamins and Electrolytes for the water, or some Poultry Nutri-Drench or Poultry Cell tonic, and dose each chick with 1 ml orally. With the SaveAChick, just dip their beaks in the water often. Chicks can really get stressed in shipping during the hot temperatures of summer, as well as the cold in winter.

Agreed.

Thank you for your replies. I want to report that so far all 3 remaining chicks seem to be doing well now. They are eating and drinking and trying to forage around.

If I figure out how to post pictures I will post some here soon.

Thank you again.
