Is this worth a try?

You will have to post pics of the "Isa-dottes"! I bet they are adorable!

Misty Cologne - my formerly Uber-Broody Houdan - was acting like her old, non-broody self this morning.
Spent the night on the roost, did not shriek at everyone trying to eat their breakfast eggs from the same bowl, and went out to roam instead of hurrying back to "her" nestbox.

Who knows how she'll be acting tonight.

In case I find her mooning over and/or bockbocking to the aquarium chicks, I'll try slipping them under her when it gets dark...if she's in the nestbox.

If not, then I will take over & raise them as best I can.

Sorry, but I am Technologically Impaired - can't post pictures to save my Life!
If they survive (& I can figure it out ......again), I'll change my Avatar pic to feature the Isa-Dottes

Dang!
These babies grow F-A-S-T!
Already the 10gal aquarium is looking crowded for the 2 of them.
Since we have a forecast for cooler nights I'll be bringing up the 30gal to house them for now.

So far they are doing fine - eating, drinking, pooping & playing with each other.
The littlest one - Juanita - already has some wee primary feathers on her wings so I imagine she is the older of the 2.

I was thinking of sectioning off part of the coop for them - I can put down some plywood for under the shavings. I would roof this "playpen" with chicken wire do the older hens will be able to see them but can't get in. Would they need a roost - say a branch (stripped of bark) about 1" off the ground?
That way they will have more room to grow until they are feathered out enough to try with the Big Girls.
Any other suggestions for the Baby Coop?

I would think you could put the roost a little higher then that ...

Have you given them any treats?

If not Scrambled, and Boiled eggs are a nice treat that has alot of protein.

OK, I'll probably angle a roost so they can walk up higher if they want.
I did that for my hens when they were pullets & they like it.

I tried feeding the chicks a wee bit of egg scrambled with yogurt - that is my daily breakfast treat for the Big Girls.
Little ones walked all over it & didn't seem to try tasting it so I picked it out of their dish before it went bad or drew flies.

Once they have a larger space I'll set up a little Treat Testing area.
I'd like them to have the yogurt if only for the calcium & probiotic effect.

Right now as long as they are eating the medicated starter crumbles & drinking that's enough.

That's kind of the way it was with my Button quail. As chicks and teens they wouldn't eat treats at all! Now that they're older they gobble'em up!

When they get older I bet they'll start eating treats.
