My hen was attacked by a bobcat five days ago and left with a wound the size of two quarters. We took her to the vet and she got staples but the day before yesterday, we let her out briefly (which we realize we shouldn't have done) and she got dirt over the staples. We cleaned the area and the wound looked fine then and overall had been healing well (and not sure if that incident was related to what happened later but thought it would be good to mention).
This morning we saw that the staples were loosened and the wound had reopened. The edges also looked a bit dark so I was concerned if this is necrotic tissue and if there's anything recommended that we do. She has been on antibiotics and will finish them by next Wednesday. Thank you!
