Is Tractor supply/Hoover's hatchery always so frustrating?

Trying to be patient because of how crazy the world is but come on.
My sister ordered Appenzeller pullets through tractor supply. The order has been on processing for the past month, money removed from the account, and any contact for further information had to be initiated by us. First we tried emailing Tractor supply, we were finally told April 1st for the date the chicks would ship.

April 1st came, then April 2nd, and April 3rd. We feared the worst thinking the chicks were stuck somewhere. I got in touch with the hatchery as we'd never received shipping information. They told me they'd ship out on April 7th.

April 7th was yesterday, we all waited on baited breath for a phone call, email, something telling us when these chicks would be on their way or arriving. Nothing, complete silence.
I messaged the hatchery again, and they told me that the order had been delayed until April 14th now.

I understand delays due to poor hatches or uncontrollable conditions, but this is twice. Twice, I would think our order would have been top of the list to be filled at that point. And then they never even called or emailed to let us know of these changes. We've just had to wait anxiously for chicks only to be disappointed week after week.

I'm sorry you had to go through all of this. I have never ordered through them, I hope you get your poor little babies soon! I know what it's like to anxiously wait for chicks. :hugs

Sounds like hatchery either over sold a hatching at some point or had a really bad one, if that’s the case there is probably a ton of orders backed up. So you might not be #1 on the list but getting closer each week.

As for lack of communication, you said you ordered through TSC they probably emailed TSC, and TSC said ohh ok well when customers call we will let them know.. so the one person who read the email probably didn’t spread the word to anyone else and it stopped there. As much as I love TSC, they are still a big box store.

Waiting and wondering would be terrible, I’m so sorry this is happening to you.

Thank you, I hope this will be that last week we have to wait but we'll see. They don't seem to really care about our order but I'm not sure who's end that's on. I'll probably avoid ordering from them again in the future though. I was worried I sounded more entitled in my original post, but waiting on chicks like this isn't fun anymore.

Funny thing, part of the reason my sister ordered these chicks because she couldn't wait for the eggs we have incubating to hatch. They're due to hatch this Saturday. So much for having chicks to tide her over until then.

Huh, I got a new response from the hatchery.

I had messaged them this;
"No phone call was received. Do you have the correct number on file? (***) ***-****

This is getting nerve wracking as this is again the order (placed mid March) been pushed back with no contact to inform us of these changes. "

And just got back this;
"I did just push your order through and made a note that it had to go out to you today. I did check the phone number and it is correct so I am not sure what happened there. I apologize. You should get an email with tracking information tomorrow. I will be sure to log in and get that informtation to you on here tomorrow. "

I'm kind of sorry I posted this topic now, but still felt like I needed to vent.

That’s great!!:clap:clap:fl:fl

Nah never be sorry better to come here and vent then sit and stew about it.

i am NOT a fan of tractor supply at least for chicks. i dont like their rules for one thing....that whole debacle seems sketchy....i would try a hatchery direct next time. other hatcheries have those birds and i have never been disappointed with any of their service. i dont like the deaths....so i rather buy from the feed store but when you want special breeds....anytine i have ordered spitz...well lets just say i think they are kind of fragile....

I actually ordered my chicks through tractor supply, but I did it online. They actually got here 3 days before their supposed "ship date". its funny looking at this post now, I ordered my babys on the 27th of march, ship date was supposed to be April 6th, my post office called me on April 3rd saying they were here. no one called me directly or let me know they were coming sooner, so I was in a rush to get food and such. I looked at ordering direct from the hatchery, but I had to order like 15 chicks and I had to pay for shipping through them. so my 15 chicks were going to cost like 80 bucks. I paid 39 through tractor supply for 10. I did end up losing a chick the day after (sad face). but my other 9 are happy and healthy. After doing some homework ill probably order through a breeder next time. but it wasn't a horrible experience but communication was indeed poor at best.

I hope you got your chicks and they are fat and happy now!
