Long story short, I got Watcher and his/her buddy on April 1. The bin was marked "Black Sex-Link Pullets." At the time, I didn't know how to tell the difference
and the two chicks I got had white splashes on their heads. For the life of me, I can't recall what the others looked like, but I seem to recall there were a lot of white on all the chicks.
Watcher and buddy started showing barred markings immediately. So, after learning I picked what was most likely roos, I shrugged and figured maybe they'd fit in, even if I didn't want roos. Now Watcher is about 10 weeks and I'm wondering if maybe if these birds were mislabeled and are actually Barred Rock pullets. I'm including the photos. Their combs are much smaller than the two RIRs that I think are roos. In fact, their combs are smaller than the black sex-link pullets that are younger than they are.
What do you think? Did I get Barred Rock pullets? Is Watcher a boy or girl?
