ISA Brown Breeding

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone knows if it’s worth trying to hatch eggs if true rooster is an ISA Brown. I have a couple of hens going broody, so I don’t want to let them keep eggs if they’re not likely to do well. I’ve read that hybrids can be unpredictable and that ISA Brown chicks are prone to health issues.

Where'd you read that? Isa brown are sex links (crossbreds), not hybrids.
They can breed and produce healthy chicks if the parents are healthy, no problem.
The 'isa are unhealthy" starts from someone getting them from a seedy hatchery so the genetics and health of the parents aren't very good so the chicks don't do well, thus starts people blaming the breed and not the real factors.

It's worth a go if you just want more birds. However, a ISA brown Male paired with a ISA brown female will /NOT/ make sexlinks

Thank you! I guess I thought the terms were interchangeable. It makes sense that healthy parents produce healthy offspring, but I must have gotten that info from a google search or something. I’ve read a lot, but wanted someone with firsthand knowledge to elaborate. I have a few other roosters that are pure breed, but Fluffy Butt (ISA Brown Roo) has the nicest temperament and his hens are the broody ones so far. Guess we’ll see how it goes. Thanks again!
