ISA Brown or Hubbard ISA Brown or Bovan

I live in Northern California so we don't get this breed from my feed store and we don't have Tracto Supply and Rural King.

Yes we ship them as red but do mark the cartons with breed. ISA for Isa's. Do some of the chicks have stripes on their backs? If so they are Isa's. Post a photo and I can tell you what you have.

I live in northern NV and ordered 100+ chicks last year from Townline. The service was excellent (I called to change/increase my order several times before shipment), the billing was easy, customer service is helpful and friendly, and the shipping was flawless. My chicks arrived on the second morning in perfect condition with a few extras included.

As layers, they have been great birds. They are friendly, almost to a fault...you have to be careful not to step on them because they always want to be nearby when I'm in the run or coop. They lay almost every day and are very efficient foragers. I find they eat far less than my RIR's or other heritage breeds. At one point I fed them a very high protein food (neighbor had a bag of 30% protein gamebird feed to give away) and I got GINORMOUS eggs from the girls. The eggs were not double yolkers and the yolk was a normal size. But the eggs were huge with a ton of whites around the dark yolk. They normally get about 20% protein feed and I get all large or bigger eggs, with the occasional ginormous.

Unless your feed store chooses to seek out Townline on their own, you can always order directly from Townline. My order ended up with several of my chicken friends combining an order to get a better price, although even ordering just 25 chicks is very reasonably priced. I don't think you would be disappointed with your birds from Townline.

Townline should be shipping 75 ISA Browns and 25 cornishX chicks to me tomorrow.

If they're anything like the 'comets' that I got from TSC last Spring... they'll be great birds.

Townline called and said they're sending the chicks tomorrow instead of today. They didn't say why but I'm glad they told me. I'm kind of bummed tho'. An extra day is going to feel like a week.

I will go back to pacing now......

Thanks for the info Gary!

I'm glad to hear they're hatching on Mon-Wed. I was a tad bit worried they had hatched on Monday and the hatchery just wasn't able to get them out today. (I was worried about getting slightly weak chicks... you know how paranoid chick-expecting folks can be!)
