Hello, I bought 4 baby chick pellets from Tractor Supply on April 2. Out of the 4, three of them are very similar in size and appearance. However the fourth one is huge and seems to be fully grown. This morning I swear I heard this huge chicken crow. I heard that the females can sometimes crow too. Here are pictures of my chickens. They started out all looking the same as chicks. I am worried I may have a rooster... Any thoughts?

He looks like an ISA Brown to me....white in the hackles and tail. Maybe I'm wrong?

I thought the cockerels of red sex links were mostly white, with some red at the shoulders. Anyway, it is gigantic compared to the others, so I have to think something else is going on here. But I'm by no means certain, so who knows?

True. :) I was under the impression ISA Brown cockerels specifically looked similar to the pullets (I'd seen a few like the OP's), but upon doing a little research, the same principle applies. Perhaps there was a little breed confusion involved.

I agree. I'm pretty sure the ISA males are mostly white with some blotchy red.

I think some of the hatcheries may have made some "Ooops" cockerels that are colored like pullets trying to get the male sex-links to be meatier since they sell them for meat birds. I was looking at the descriptions on some of the hatchery websites for their sex-links and it reads like they are using at least one hybrid to make them. I really wish I could find it, but I saw an e-mail somewhere that TSC sent back to a customer where they did admit to selling some this year.
