I’m tempted to get 10 isa brown pullets from tractor supply but I’ve heard of them mixing up their chicks and giving you the wrong sex. I have a few questions I would gladly appreciate if you’d answer them I’m new to rasing chicks and I would like to start having eggs in the future
1: Have you ever ordered from TSC
2: were the chicks ok?
3: did they get the order right?
And also I would gladly appreciate any advice thank you.

Are you thinking of walking into the store and picking up chicks from their bins or mail ordering them?

I think the big mix up comes from the bins, some employees are clueless and just mix up the birds.
Even mail ordering is not 100% sex accurate though so be prepared for a couple of males.

mail ordering them but I thought they were sex links aren’t they?

Do you have a coop built yet?
I would recommend building a large coop before you place your order and I think you should order one or two extra just in case some fail to thrive.

I have not purchased from TSC. I did from my pet chicken.com and Meyers. They have not made errors and found them to be very economical. You do have shipping costs. I think most people think that TSC sexes their chickens sold in the store and they may not. That means you have an equal chance of males versus females. They occasionally have been noted on BYC as having breeding errors meaning other chicks mixed in the bin. If you see one that does not look like the others, Do not purchase it. If they promise you females and you get males, be wise, check out the return or refund policy before you buy. Many will refund your money if you report it within the policy guidelines. If they do not have some type of guarantee for the sex of the chicken, I wouldn’t buy from them. Hope this helps in your decision making. :)
