In the Brooder
A ways back (three weeks ago) we acquired six chicks sold to us from TSC as 2 Barred Rock and 4 ISA Brown - all sexed pullets.
We realized three days later that the 2 "Barred Rocks" weren't standard fowl but some form of bantie, and not probably barred rock. As for the other four, one turned out to be a bantie roo and the other three are just.. unusual.
The one on the left and the one in the back are the supposed ISA's. The one on the right is our bantie roo.
We noticed their tails are all different shapes. They've had tails since about a week when we got them.
This one looks like this all the time- that is he/she always holds their tail down
This one has speckled feathers.
Here they are as a group minus one of the little black bantams.
Sorry on pic quality, they are very camera/people shy even though we've been working with them since we got them. Everybody has teeny tiny spurs on their legs. The bantam roo has spurs the same size as the bigger chicks, and all together their spurs are the same size as our 11 1/2 week old Barred Rock rooster
My question: Is there any chance the bigger chicks are hens? We cannot keep three extra roosters especially ones that don't seem to like us.Also are these even ISA browns or did we get misled by TSC?
