Isbar thread

Beautiful eggs in a beautiful basket. A very pretty picture!
X2 - gorgeous photo.
Some of those look very 'blue' -- Can you tell the hen by the color of eggs? I have only two Isbar hens but they each lay a slightly different shape....and one of them has specks on the egg.
That is a lot of eggs! Approximately how many layers over how many days to get a stash like that?

Thank you! Some of them are bluish green. I tried to get a good representation of the range of greens that Isbars lay. I know I didn't get them all. LOL It actually took me months of saving eggs to get those for the picture. Some of them have been incubated and were infertile, some of them are blown out, some of them are just very old and drying out without being blown out (no room in the incubator and too pretty to crack!

) and some are recent eggs that are headed for the incubator. So many people have asked about the color that Isbars lay that I wanted to get a good representative photo and that takes a LOT of different eggs!

It's really fabulous! -- I can imagine a calendar or a book for Isbars someday -- or other things -- and that photo is just so fabulous -- and how neat that you got the wide representation! Yay!

Oh, and yes, I can tell which hen laid which egg most of the time. In my 1st import group, my black hen lays a dark olive egg, the 2 blue hens are a medium green, sometimes with spots, and the splash lays a light green egg. I can tell the difference between the blue hens because one of them lays a shell with a swirl pattern in it that is only evident when I candle. I will have to try to get a picture of one of hers next time I candle.

I just love the variety of egg colors that I get from my Isbars!

Same here -- I really like to know which of the hens is laying what around here. Another thing I really like about Isbars is that you can sustain multiple looks -- so easy to tell the hens apart too -- Blue-black-splash all in your flock.

Hello all. Introducing myself. I'm fairly new to the chicken game and I too have been sucked in! I only need a couple more though, and then I'm good.... Right?? In any event, by fate I hopped on Craigslist just looking for pullets of any breed and came across an ad user Dispatch273 had put up for isbars and was then turned into the breed. I initially bought 3 pullets from her and have to say these birds are an absolute blast. I've since purchased 1 more purebred black, and a splash cross. I'll try and get some pictures ASAP.
