Isbar thread

Thank you! To the sex question; sometimes you can almost tell at hatch the sex if it is a cockerel. They will bust out of the shell and immediately begin acting like a boy. Other times it takes waiting for comb development. I was sure this new hatchling was a pullet. She has turned out to be a he. Time will help you be sure.

He is so cute. I’m so excited to finally have my Silverudd’s Blue Chicks. Do you have any pictures of yours at the ages where you could start telling the sex? If you do, please share. :wee

I take guesses before I am actually sure. I look for attitude, stance, leg thickness. And as above, I am sometimes wrong! It will vary with the chick and the line as to how early the boys get comb development.

Update on Isbar chicks:

They're now six weeks old and I'm definitely seeing comb development on the one chick that I thought was a roo before.

Chick 1:

Chick 2 (Poe- the only one of the four named and the one I'd be most upset about being a roo):

Chick 3:

Chick 4: (The one I am pretty definite is a roo)

On that note, if anyone is in the Central FL area and wants to buy/swap Isbar Roos pm me or respond. lol.

I think your right about #4. Miy Silverudd’s Blue chicks are now 3 &1/2 weeks. I have one Splash that is definitely a cockerel. Too soon to tell on the other 9. Keep sharing pics. I love watching them grow.

Wonderful! Thank you! I do love these two girls, I have to say they have the 'prettiest' faces of all my chickens. Beautiful big brown eyes and a gentle expression. I am very much looking forward to the eggs. thanks again.
