From what others in Sweden and other countries have told me, there are other colors of Isbar in Sweden. Not sure how many of them were from Silverudd's original breeding, and how many are from breeders trying to "improve" the breed since his death. I do know other than the Blue Isbar there was originally a White Isbar, which is extremely rare today, if not extinct.
However, it has not escaped me that these 3, being as they are all cockerels, may have been "packing peanuts" of another breed or project that GFF is working on. The chicks and juveniles look suspiciously like the Swedish Orust Hen, one of GFF newer imports. However, those only come in black and have speckled legs. My juvies are blue and black and don't have speckles on their legs... yet. They could be a mix of the 2 breeds. I don't mind GFF doing projects (many, many breeders do), but they shouldn't send them out with purebred chicks without identifying them properly.![]()
I have an email into Jenny at GFF trying to confirm that these 3 are indeed Isbars. The email that I sent her inquiring about the unusual down color shortly after they arrived led me to believe they are. I do find it odd that if GFF has mottled Isbars that they are not advertising them as such.
They are going to be stunning either way! You can find pics of the Orust Hen here: http://www.pinterest.com/chickenhearted/swedish-orust-chicken/
I have heard back from Jenny at Greenfire Farms about these three - they are not Isbars...
I'm sorry, but I hear this enough to say out loud: those folks have some SERIOUS ethical and integrity issues.I have heard back from Jenny at Greenfire Farms about these three - they are not Isbars...That was not the same impression she gave me six weeks ago when I asked about the "different" down color on the chicks I received...![]()

I have good luck with my own eggs but dismal results from shipped eggs. Good luck!
