I have ten isbars - 4 splash 4 blue and 2 blacks. I am disappointed in the color of the eggs also (in the pics I've seen as mine aren't laying age yet) and I thought I would get eggs that were green with brown specks. As for the moss green, my EE's already do that. Regardless, I like having a rare breed but they act like most European bred chickens - flightly and not interested in much human contact.

I thought I already asked this before but guess not. I know they are supposed to be autosexing but what do the day old chicks look like?

I got 11 chicks and I couldn't tell any difference except the black and splash of course!

I do not know anything about them being autosexing. They look like any BBS variety chicken. Splash, blue and black - they are not old enough to sex yet.

But there are quite some things which could cause the misunderstanding of them being an autosexing breed

translation bugs and all.
They were created by Martin Silverudd who also made the 55Flowerys which is an autosexing breed.
RIR, New Hampshires and Cream Crested Legbars were used to create them.
And there are some speculations about it that they were possibly intended to become an autosexing & colored egg breed. Silverudd did quite a lot of breeding into that direction. But they were still a work in progress when he died and there's no known documentation about what he had planned for them exactly.

From reading the full description, it sounds like other colors of isbars (not sure what they are) could be auto-sexing.

Isbars do not come in color patterns like barring or mottling. They are solid blue/splash/black in silver or gold (rare). The preferred color to breed for is a good blue, that's why they are usually called "blå" isbar (click here for the google-translator pronunciation

I am not sure what you are referring to as Swedish Black Hen - but if it is the Svart Hona - I will be importing these in April.

omg, what I would do to get my hands on some swedish black hens....If I could import anything it would be those....do you have any? that where your login came from? I tried contacting the breed club and have list of names....maybe next year
