Isn't it too early?

I always found that poults from eggs early in the year are inferior to poults raised later in the year.

Why are they inferior?

They do not seem to grow as fast or have the size of the birds that are breed in season. Often my younger birds will look more mature at Thanksgiving than the older earlier turkeys. I am not sure why. I am going to check this year and see if there is a egg size difference that might cause it. My other thought is raising them in colder weather might stunt or slow the growth. I did notice the ALBC also says never to raise out of season birds. I could not find why but just something I found to be true for me. I also think the seem to be the first to get sick so it must effect the immune system.

If you're hatching pullet eggs that could explain a lot.
