Isn't there a sticky for hatching DUCK eggs?

If anyone wants to write a tutorial on any subject, please do so and PM me. The staff will look it over and if warranted, we will add it to the sticky list at the top of the forum.

I set 10 call duck eggs last night for incubation!
My incubator is at 100.4 and am keeping the humidity level around 40-50% for now... It's a still air.. It is also a self turner, which I am going to try leaving on this time.
Need a *crosses fingers* smilie.

Who has enough know how and experience to write a tutorial for this to be a sticky?? for quick reference it would be awesome.. I had to go back thru and search for this thread.. I wanted to double check the humidity level and temps...

Its hard to have a sticky for hatching duck eggs because First it depends where you live. which has to do with humidity. Two some people swear by misting some say it doesnt mater at all.Third some say you can only hatch them on their side and not vertical . Four depends on whether you pull the eggs before or after the hen sets.Five what kind of ducks(wild, call,or domestic), To me there are way too many variables. Thats why you always get different opinions or even facts. but the good news is look back or way back on the duck forum and you can use your own judgement on these debates or the best bet is to post your question with where you live, what kind of duck you have, what kind of incubator you have, etc. more detail the better responces. thats why we all love BYC

Ok I also ask this question about hatching duck eggs ...... I try with 8 apple yard hatching eggs before and place them in a turner along with my chicken eggs , seem no luck with the 8 apple yard some where infertile and others just didn’t fully developed .........but most of all the chicks hatched

So I again try with 17 Mallard and 8 buff s and also try with 7 woods and a few 6 mandarin hatching eggs , Well I hand turn them 3-5 times a day , within 24 hr s and 15 of the Mallard 7 of the buff all hatched but the woods and mandarin did not , all where set at the same time / day and all had the same humid , I even let the woods and mandarin set longer in the bator but none hatch , I end up seeing that most where all not fertile at the end ,

but I must say If I hatch ducks eggs again I would hand turn then again better hatching rates

This is what I do for hatching wild ducks, first if possible let the duck set or have a hen set . this is the best. If you want more babies here is next best option let duck set on eggs for two weeks then pull eggs put in bator eggs hatch pretty much like chicken eggs and duck most of the time will lay another clutch.third option dont let hen set 2weeks, get eggs put in bator day 1 (I use forced air hovabator with vertical auto turners),BUT I also hand turn and the ONLY way this works is by misting the eggs 3-8 times a day. Before I misted none hatched .This way youll have a fair hatch. Im sure not the first to do this but I DID find this out on my very own.Hopefully one day someone will find the true key to even better first day incubation hatching methods. Hope this helps you DAKID and anyone else. If anybody else has hatching success from day1 in a incubator for wild ducks any other way please please let me know because this is the only way I know that works for wild ducks for DaKid also; sometimes rarely due to inbreeding ,age or other unforseens no eggs will be fertile and if eggs were not under a duck or hen till development you would assume it was some thing you did on day 1 hatching when is also a factor hardly anyone ever thinks of

When I did my goose egg hatching page, I was told to make it as my personal page, then they would add it to the stickies in the incubation forum. It's there, and in my pages

Might be easier to do that than have a whole thread put together.

thats but I thinking on getting next time around a few day old or evern a week or more older / young adluts on the wild ducks I try this a few times and spend maybe more $$$$$ on hatching eggs then I could buy a few pairs of young adults ,
Thanks again

ok but what does the misting do if you are keeping the humidy up to say 50 -60 during the turning
