Isn't there laws about this?

I know my breeder (for min pins) wont allow the puppies to go from mom till 10 weeks, because she knows me for 20+ yrs i was allowed to get mine at 8 weeks

and there is no way that black lab (the black sibling) is 100lbs

maybe the owner is using that new metric math...lol

I got my scooter at 5 weeks. He was a little too young to be given away, but he got plenty of goat's milk, and has grown big and strong. the breeder seemed to want to deal with me as little as possible, though.

I have to disagree on a lab needing to be "fat" to be at that weight. Different breeders breed for different things. Apparently the person who bred Marley wanted a large dog...he's 110 lbs.

Thunder used to be 90 lbs and looked GOOD, but at 13, his weight is starting to drop fast.

Ideally the puppy should be between 8 and 12 weeks before being separated from the mother and siblings. They learn many valuable skills at this age, bite inhibition being one of them.
But there are money monger breeders and people lacking intelligence that just want to get rid of them asap. They force the puppy to wean before they are ready and then sell for as much money as they can get.
Not all states have the same laws to protect the puppies unfortunately.
But this is a way to weed out good breeders from bad ones.

I agree puppies should not be separated from their siblings and mom before 8 weeks. Generally the mom will start weaning around 4-5 weeks, and in some cases are rarely if ever nursing by 6 weeks, I think this confuses some to think they are ok to go, but it's actually what they are learning in those very important weeks. In my mom's last litter one pup had to be bottle fed, but she still stayed w/ her mom and siblings for the full 8 weeks.

The post was flagged for removal when I went to read it. I agree, that pups need to stay with mom for 8-10 weeks. Mom needs time to teach them doggie manners.
In Ohio pups have to be 8 weeks. But when you read the law it seems to be for pet stores and kennels.
