ISO hen saddles

My favorite chicken saddles are by Down Under. These fit large and small hens both, and have lasted for years. They have some other sizes too. They work for hot and cold weather, are washable, and super durable. Super heavy cotton canvas material. They don't come off unless you take them off and are easy to adjust. They allow ventilation in summer, and keep them warmer in the winter. The black wing protectors are optional - I don't use those but you could. Worth every penny.

I use these too and couldn't be happier with them.

What kind of customization were you thinking?
I think the denim aprons with the ruffles are so cute. I almost bought them from Amazon but I wasn't confident in the durability and fit. Do you think you could make something like this that would last?

Aww, cute! I've never done ruffles before so let me look and see if I can do them. The denim itself is no problem.

I bought these on Amazon: https://a.co/d/aFoUhOq

When I looked at them out of the package I thought they would be too short and wouldn't reach the girls tails, but they fit great. They've been on for two weeks and I check them every few days to make sure they aren't getting any irritations from the straps under their wings. So far so good.

I got these at the same time https://a.co/d/bvSpZJH
The plastic wing covers aren't sewn on like I thought they would be so it wasn't worth the extra $1 a saddle, the boys knocked the wing covers off after a few days.

For reference the two girls wearing these are a Buff Orpington pullet and a Black Jersey Giant pullet. They aren't the calmest birds when being handled, but the saddles were still pretty simple to put on with an extra set of hands to hold them still.

Those are the same ones I use. One of my black Australorps wears one all the time. Sometimes when another hen mounts her the back flap gets folded up, and the shoulder epaulets (that's what we call them) tend to flop around and not stay in place but overall it's good protection and seems comfortable for her.
I ended up buying those and the ones they sent me are a different, cheaper version! They'll probably work fine, but I am not happy.

Return them if they're not what you ordered. In some cases, if you call Amazon customer service you can get your money back and keep the item. It isn't always worth it to Amazon to get the item back.

Thanks, yes, I have plenty of experience with Amazon. I am working on getting a refund before trying to return them.
