Alright everyone, I need some brains to come together and tell me how they would manage this hatch. Sorry I’ve been feeling very needy of all of you recently. Lol!
I have 12 silkie eggs arriving (shipped) tomorrow. I was planning on waiting 24 hours before setting. However, I will also have 6 or so FBCM shipped eggs coming Thursday and 6 or so Shipped legbar eggs coming Thursday. I would also like to allow them to sit 24 hours. I’m worried if I allow the silkies to sit an extra day so that I can begin the incubation all at once, there won’t be as good of a hatch. I have an incubator that can fit 27 eggs (incuview), and I will have another incubator (magicfly)coming tomorrow (because of this dilemma) that can accommodate 9 eggs. How would you manage this hatch, so that I can have the best hatch possible. I was thinking of staggering the hatch in the incuview and then using the magicfly for lockdown for the silkies. Do you think that would work. If i’m Lucky enough that all 12 silkie eggs make it to lockdown, the magicfly won’t have the room however. How would you manage this hatch?

I would just set the silkies, then set the others. Locking the non-silkie eggs down one day early really won't hurt anything, and is the simplest option :)

So if I lock down a day early, it shouldnt affect the FBCM and legbar eggs too much? They’d be locked down day 17

Yes, it should be fine :) There have even been studies done showing that really after day 14 turning the eggs isn't that important, so stopping turning on day 17 instead of 18 should have no effect.

I have silkie egg's that were shipped in mine, along with other batches in there with them that were added later. I'm already in lockdown on my shipped silkie egg's now that are due to hatch on the 14th. I also have some silkie egg's from a local breeder due to hatch on the 22nd. I also have some from my own Naked Neck flock in there too.

I’m guessing g that the extra day of higher humidity won’t hurt much either? Thanks again!

Should be fine :) Humidity is more important as an average over all of incubation, and one day of higher humidity won't hurt anything as long as it's been good for the rest of the incubation.
