We're in the Pittsburgh area starting our first laying flock...looking for 4-6 hens to start with! Any tips are appreciated! We're also looking for 2 young ducks for laying also :)

Welcome to BYC! Do you have a feed store such as a TSC near you? They only have chicks, but tend to have RIR and Barred Rock pullets during this time of year AKA chick season. They sometimes have unsexed ducklings, some pick out the smaller ducklings for a better chance of getting ducks, females, instead of drakes, Males.

If your looking for older pullets, Freehling Farms in Kittaning is your best bet. Check out their Facebook post for hatch dates and available breeds. Best of luck!
