Hi there .. I’m new to chicks and came home from the county fair to find one of my 16 week old production red pullets isolating in the coop and lethargic. I took her out and placed her in the yard with the other cockerels and pullets and she played for a while and then isolated again. It was warm today but not excessively. Could be suffering from the heat? Is it that she’s getting ready to lay? I’m not sure if I should bring her in.

It could be the heat, any other symptoms? I would isolate until you figure it out & bring her in. Try giving her some electrolytes & see how she is in the morning.
No other symptoms that I can tell! There was a little Cecal poop in the cage but I’m not sure who did it and I figure it’s par for the course in the warm weather. It was only one dropping - the rest are fine. Thanks for taking the time to help me figure this out!!

Cecal poop is normal, happens for all every 7 - 8th poop
this morning she’s up and active but she left this feseces. It isn’t cecal I don’t think ... ☹️

Is this girl laying eggs?
How long have you had her?

Taking a stool sample to your vet for testing is a good idea.
The poop in that photo is not normal.

I would provide her with her normal feed, see that she is drinking well. If you cannot get a sample to your vet, then I would treat for Coccidiosis. You can find Corid in the cattle section of Tractor Supply. Dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder or 2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon of water. Give for 5-7 days - make sure this is the ONLY water available during that time period. Mix a fresh batch at least once a day.

What are you feeding her? Is she laying? Any other symptoms other than lethargic & isolating itself? Is all her poop that color?
I'm still learning, asking some of the more experienced for help ....

:bow @casportpony @Ravynscroft @Wyorp Rock .... Thank you in advance
Thank you!! She hasn’t started laying yet. She’s on dumor chicken 15%. I’ve moved Her into the house and have her some electrolytes, yogurt and feed.

She’s 15 weeks, we got her as a day old at the end of March. She’s not laying yet. I have 2 cockerels and a New Hampshire red all the same age. I’ve got her in the house with some electrolytes- it’s been hot in nj and I’m wondering if it’s the heat. Now that she’s in the house and drinking and eating normally. I can treat her for coccidiosis. I really appreciate this!!!
