Hi !! I have an already egg laying chicken and this morning when I went to go let them out I noticed some small blood and I checked all the chickens. I found just one of my Issa browns had blood all over her butt. So I took her inside and gave her a bath and blow dried her out. I keep her isolated for a little bit and she was eating and drinking. I examined her poop for about 8 hours now and no more blood. I did notice these weird seed looking things in her healthy otherwise looking poop (images attached)

She doesn’t have access to any plants near her coup that are poisonous or anything. All my chickens free range and are grain feed organic.

I’m worried it made be cocci or could be something as simple as an intestinal lining bleed.

No other chickens have symptoms or issues.

Any advice would be great because I have only owned chickens for about a year now!!

Thank you

Can you show a picture of her vent if possible? Is there any prolapse or injury to the vent seen? The blood could be from vent pecking, especially if there was a prolapse, which can sometimes go back in on it’s own. Vent pecking is from agression by other chickens or roosters, and there can be many different reasons for it. But if there is a prolapse or blood coming from something bleeding inside the vent, that needs ro be addressed. I would separate her for now.

I don’t think I have seen a dropping like that before, but I agree that it looks like seeds of something. If you still have it, you could try to crush or cut them in two.

Yes I can, I was confused on what it would be because the only thing we give them besides free range and the organic grain is straight from our garden. So tomato, cucumbers, etc. the only store bought items we give them is bananas. Since it’s fall they have only recently had fresh pumpkin (which we grow) and bananas

You say she is "grain feed organic." Can you explain that a little clearer? Is she fed only grain? No layer or grower feed? Do you provide grit or oyster shell? Thanks.
No, they are free rangers which means over 80 percent of their diet is from the yard. We provide the grain below which has oyster shells in them for laying chickens.

We have no problems with soft shell eggs either.

From the pictures below, we have grit all around our property has our driveway is made up of dirt and rocks. We live on about 8 acres with two ponds.

I have seen some similar hard seeds on my patio under some trees that birds have been nesting in early in the fall which were from some tree or bush nearby, and the seeds were deposited after the birds ate the fruit.

I will have to take a long walk around the property! Her name is Dora because she is the one who likes to explore haha! We find her by herself all the time
