So I have quite a few ducks. Ranging in age. A few are in separate coops accordingly. Well, two of my females have been fighting. I’m not sure why. They just sit there and bite each other’s necks. Out of all the years I’ve had ducks, I’ve never had this happen. Both are a couple years old and neither of them are broody. Neither of them have EVER gone broody before either. I’ve tried to get them to. Anyway, does anyone know why this is happening? It’s non stop all day long.

not saying I’m an expert, but I have 2 broody females on a nest together and they have made bald patches on each other’s necks since they have been nesting together

That’s why I’m confused. Because mine aren’t broody. I would understand if they were but they aren’t. They just run around fighting in random places. Not over food. They’ll eat together fine. They just randomly fight. There’s no nest or no eggs. And when there are eggs they don’t lay on them and they have no interest

It may just be hormones. I see my Muscovy and have even seen my Runners nipping at each other. You could try separating them for a while and see if they calm down any towards each other. I had one of my Muscovy females that got hateful towards another and she had to sleep totally alone for 2 nights after that she was fine.

That’s what I’ll do then. I’ll put the one instigating in with the chickens. Thank you so much.

I was just wondering if this is pre-broody behavior. My ducks were getting pushed around by my ducks were all more aggressive with each other and then 2 ducks went broody and a 3rd is trying

And hope she doesn’t start in on them. These girls make me think PMS!
She did great with the chickens. I really believe they’re just aggravated with each other. Both are a few years old and have never gone broody. And they aren’t broody right now. I put her back in with the others and her and daisy fought it out a bit and now they are fine
