my chicken has had a respiratory infection a few weeks ago and It hasn't completely recovered I suspect as she opens her beak less now however when she eats and in the morning she starts violently coughing until she turns blue and cannot stand properly. I have felt a hard lumpy bump above her crop near her beak. It is winter here in Australia now would that worsen her condition? I received medication from an avian vet like a syringe and after powder to be dissolved in her water. I haven't given her the powder as I should have could that also be the issue? I doubt I could take her to the vet again so please recommend a remedy I could do from home.

The powder, I'm guessing, is Tylosin. It's an all purpose antibiotic, and it's well suited for respiratory secondary bacterial infection. Stop dithering and use it.

You can also attack the infection with a mister or vaporizer by adding Oxine or another safe antiseptic such as Betadine to the water. It will assist the sick chicken in her breathing and it will help knock out bacteria in her upper respiratory tract. Cold mist is more conducive to assisting breathing than warm steam, but both will help.
