I have 10 hens and 2 roosters. 3 hens are laying and I check for eggs numerous times a day. And when there are eggs I grab them up and refrigerate them. My issue is that when I go to cook them I get paranoid that I'm going to crack an egg to eat and there will be a baby in it. I know it takes a while for a baby to form, but I still worry. I would like to make boiled eggs, but then I wouldn't be able to open it before cooking!!!

If you are collecting the eggs every day, there is virtually no chance you will crack one and find a baby chick. Hens will lay an egg a day until they have a clutch of eggs and won't sit on them at all until they think they have enough. The eggs won't start to develop at all until the hen starts sitting on them and doesn't get up except for once a day or so. As long as you collect them every day and refrigerate, you won't see any baby chicks in your cooked eggs.
