Greetings,
For those of you who don’t know me, here’s a little background. I love my chickens. A lot. And I’m a bit paranoid about their health, especially their reproductive health, since I lost a chicken to egg yolk peritonitis my second year of keeping chickens. Also, I have hand raised two small batches of hatchery stock chicks the past two years, which have been my first two years of keeping chickens. As a former molecular biologist, I love learning and science, and spend most of my time here at BYC in the Emergencies forum, trying to learn and giving back when I can.
Lately I’ve been watching the eggs extra closely and got the best surprise when I arrived home from work. Nine eggs from nine hens. I think this is a first! It’s a big day. :love

These are beautiful!

(still not sure if that white egg came from that lovely Margo though:D)

Hehe! I really want a blue layer, olive layer, and chocolate layer, but my flock is so happy and manageable right now, I think I’m holding off on chicks this year. That is, if I can control myself. ;)

At some point I wouldn't mind colorful egg layers. I really do like the looks of your Margo, that's why I tease you about that egg. I have White Leghorn, but your Brown girl is a beauty.

I have my chicks for this year (I think:D) and will be working with those. I do wish more had hatched so I had a better selection of cockerels to choose from, but that is the way it goes.

Are they fertilized or for food?

Thanks! Margo is beautiful and LOVES to lap sit and be petted.

On another note... that big brown egg I’m always so sure is Bagheera’s may actually be Cashew’s. She’s singing the egg song and there’s a big brown egg next to Margo’s. The two of them were taking turns back and forth singing the egg song and sitting in their laying spot on the flor. (Our nest boxes are too small, which we didn’t know when we built the coop... will address that someday. Some of the girls, even Buttercup, use them anyway.)
