Looks like a juvenile cooper's hawk, pretty bird!
Keep chasing it away whenever you see it nearby, the hawks are migrating right now so hopefully it will move along shortly. A temporary tarp might help to block both the chickens and hawk's view of one another.

I did a quick Google search of Birds or Prey of VA and I learned it was a hawk lol I grew up in WI and am very familiar with Red Tail so anything other than that I was like that's not a hawk! It would sit on the ground right by the coop and just stare at the chickens, haven't seen it today hopefully it doesn't come back.

I've had young Cooper's Hawks perch on my bird bath. Was an odd sight!
