It’s kind of a funny story, but now I have question

The horns of a Boer goat slope backward and are fairly close to the head. Therefore they are less likely to cause trouble than the horns of dairy goats. Horns of dairy goats grow more upright, the points are sharp, and they can injure you, themselves, and each other. Whether or not to remove horns is a matter of personal choice. My first goat had a full set of horns. I grew to hate them. She threw her head back and got me in the face. She would hook other goats in the belly or ram them in the side. She got her head caught in fences and feeders more times than I could count. I finally got them removed. The funny thing is that once she learned she could no longer spear her penmates she started biting them. The bites caused a lot less damage than the horns did though.
You definitely have a good point there. I just can't imagine putting an anima animal through dehorning.im a big softie. Lol

He needs to be dehorned, castrated, and most importantly he needs a companion and a pen he cannot get out of.
Castration at this age is painful for the animal (all my sheep are done in the first couple of weeks) so get a vet to do it. Goats are easy animals to keep but are escape artists. You will need good fences, not just high but they can lift up fences with their horns.

Comes under the heading of short term loss for long term gain. BYW if kids are disbudded at a few days old, the pain is minimal and lasts just a few seconds.

All good points! You have given me a lot to think about.

Also I learned that he is at least part dwarf or Pygmy so at least he won’t get too big! And he likes night lights-they keep him quieter....maybe we can find a way to make this work...

I would say he is part Alpine and part dwarf when I had goats they were disbud at a couple of days old at that point they did not have any nerves in the horn and is pretty painless but he looks to be a month old
