Yep, they are friendly chickens! I'm sure your coop will last you a good long time, I'm certain you have better impulse control than I do.

Looks good and like a bit of work I would cover the floor with something . Linoleum or something . I use old rubber and vinyl roofing in mine and then shavings or hay. Makes it easier to clean . But you can use plastic or old swimming pool liners make good floor covers .

I have a buff orpington pullet roosting on my left shoulder right now. She's about six weeks old and a real sweetie. I raise many different breeds, but the buffs are probably my favorite. You made a good choice.

Years ago my wife and I ordered chicks to start a small flock. When we went into the feed store to pick them up,A raggedy old stranger leaned out from deep in the shadows. I could see his face, worn with age and a look in his eyes I had never seen before. He stretched out his arm and pointed his shaky finger at me. He old said one thing before disappearing back into the shadows - Beware the chicken math. 'Crazy old man' I thought. I've heard the stories but everyone knows chicken math isn't real. Just a story parents tell their kids when they won't behave. Well let me tell ya son. 1 chicken house turned into 2... then 3 and now 5. Then came the ducks. Then geese. Now breeds and genetics, crosses, bantams and thelist goes on. It's too late for me so all I can do is try to save another. Beware the chicken math. It's real and when you least expect it. It will get you.
