"Uh.. yeah.. I'm so sorry.. clumsy me.." She stammered, her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment and she took several steps away from the vase. Almost instantly the man reached around her shoulders and began ushering her towards the door, casting rapid glances at the staring spectators as they went by. The attention focused on them was clearly making him incredibly uncomfortable, bordering on paranoid.
Once they had reached the safety of the outdoors, away from so many prying eyes, the woman looked pleadingly towards the man. "Christof, stop please... we need supplies. They don't know who we are so far from home. We can't keeping running with nothing, we need food and rest."
The man, who she identified as Christof, looked utterly exhausted as he helped her back onto the horse, intending to leave right away. "Alright Jem, but promise me there will be no more of this..." He was at a loss for words as he gestured towards the house, indicating the episode with the vase. "Try and be more careful next time."
