It Begins With A Map... (Medieval RP)

Fleta moved away from Peyton, back towards Kenrick, rethinking which one she hated more. "Umm..." She said, relieved that Kenrick did not want to 'cash in' the favor in another way, but not wanting to show him the map. "Alright, Kenrick, I'll show you the map, but... I have to get it first, I hid it, you know, so no one else could find what it might show..." Fleta finest, biting the inside of her cheek.

"The mystery deepens," Kenrick said with a grin and wink. "I'll be here all night, so go run and fetch it."

Meanwhile, the map was still tucked in Glenn's shirt pocket, though with the garment nearly cut in half, the folded up parchment was perilously close to falling out. Glenn tried to back away from Unwin's thrust, but didn't get far enough before the blade bit into his thigh. Luckily it was not overly deep, but he roared in pain and a line of red began soaking down his trousers. He gripped the handle of the maul even harder and swung it toward Unwin wildly.

Christof ducked and jumped out of the way, the maul coming too close for his comfort. He did not know Glenn other than seeing him in the store, and was partially afraid that the youth would end up accidently hitting him. "Come on, lets get out of here." He grabbed Jem's arm and began running for the door, not realizing that Oswin was there to block it.

In the short amount of time it took Christof and Jem to cross the room, Oswin debated if he would attempt to stop them. But he decided that if he wanted the bounty hunter's assistance retrieving the map from the knight's daughter, he had better give the man good reason to work with him. "Not so fast. If there is a warrant for your arrest, then it should be honored," he huffed at them, using his wide girth to physically block the exit. The only weapon he carried was a knife, but he drew it and brandished it at the pair in an effort to keep them back.

Christof slowed and stopped about ten feet in front of Oswin. He had been carrying a knife but it was still up in the hotel room where he had dropped it when Unwin attacked them. It was two against one, but both of them were weaponless and he didn't want to risk Jem getting hurt in a struggle. "There is no warrant for my arrest," he replied coldly. "That man is a crook, he is lying. Let us pass, we will leave with no trouble at all."

"The paperwork appeared quite... official," Oswin said back, his voice just as cold as Christof's. "So no, you're not going anywhere."

"Since when are you an advocate for following paper? You don't strike me as that type." His eyes narrowed angrily but he didn't move closer to Oswin. With Unwin and Glenn blocking the stairway, and Oswin blocking the door, they were essentially trapped inside the common room.

Jem turned around on the same train of thought as Christof. Her eyes sought out Glenn on the stairway and she felt compelled the help the man as defeating Unwin was really their only chance at getting out now. She grabbed a chair from one of the tables while crossing the room, planning to throw it at Unwin. Seeing Jem leave his side and grab the chair, Christof followed to do the same.

Unwin dodged yet another of Glenn's wild swings with the maul, now on the first step of the stairs. He was enjoying himself, taunting the youth, he had wished to end the fight earlier, but now he was just having fun. For that reason, he didn't immediately see Jem and Christof graving the chairs.

Fleta gave Kenrick a slight smile, jumping off the back of the wagon quickly, before they could change their minds and stop her from leaving. "I will see you later, then... Bye!" Fleta said, voice higher then she intended, as she moved towards the stable door.

"Think she'll be back?" Peyton asked, watching Fleta practically run out of the stables.

"Probably not," Kenrick said, walking to the door to see which way she went.

Glenn's wild swing of the maul missed its target again and smashed into the banister at the bottom of the stairs, causing the innkeeper more hand wringing, particularly as the head of the maul stuck in between two spindles and Glenn yanked it through, splintering both of them.

Fleta quickly walked towards the inn, relived to be away from the brothers, and hoping to find Glenn there at the inn. As she approached, Fleta started to hear shouts and loud banging, she quickened her pace, suddenly feeling fear grip her. She reached the inn's porch at a run, and leaped up the steps, halting as she caught site of Oswin blocking the door. But she saw clear over his shoulder, eyes widening as she took in the seen, That man is going to kill Glenn... she thought, knowing she would not be able to get past Oswin.

She did the only thing she could think to do, and called out as loud as she could, "Kenrick!!!"

Jem managed to haul the chair in a wide circle around the room without dragging the legs on the floor. She approached the staircase from the side, hoping that Unwin would be too busy with Glenn swinging madly to see her. The chair was heavy, but thankfully he was still standing on the first step so the banister was not all that high yet. With a mighty heave, she hoisted it over her head and chucked it over the banister towards Unwin...
