It came from outta nowhere!!!

Man that is awesome, I'd be taking them all home including that rooster you don't like.... He looks like he is the father of some of those multi colored chicks. It may be possible he was MIA for awhile then returned to his flock? I can't even get my chickens to jump up on me like that and I hand raised mine from the start! No rooster needed for mama to raise chicks she can do a great job on her own. They look as if they are some sort of gamebird especially that rooster. Where are they located, a park? Where are you located with feral chickens running around like that too? lol

I think Grand Cayman has feral chickens that roam all over. They are small though.

Let's see if my dial-up will play your video. Yea! I worked this time.

OP's accent sounds Cally to me.

Due to the friendly nature of the feral chickens in OP's video it is probable that the OP lives in a touristy area. Where the chickens will be fed on a regular basis by humans and not seen as pests. Usually most people find begging animals as interesting while on vacation.

Here are some of the locations famous for feral chickens on Wiki;

* Bermuda
* Fair Oaks, California
* Galston Gorge, Australia
* Key West, Florida
* Kauai, Hawaii
* Los Angeles, California

OP we sure would like to know where you are from?

Mixed game fowl or jungle fowl mix with maybe a couple of California Whites thrown in? Lovely chickens! They certainly seem to enjoy you back! Mom w/ chicks was giving you a little stink eye for getting too close with the camera!

Yeah, I agree just wild gamefowl and mixes.
But for feral chickens, they sure are friendly! I've had some that I can't even walk into the pen without going nuts.

I think the white rooster is an EE? I thought I saw a muff on him?
I love the splash rooster

You should build yourself a coop and try feeding them in there, and eventually locking them up(if they roost in it) so you can try to protect them.

There are quite a few feral flocks scattered around New Orleans.

Friend of mine lives in the 9th ward and was adopted by a rooster (post-Katrina cockfighting enthusiasts kept their birds a couple blocks away in the empty SPCA bldg. until they were busted, and the roos either escaped or were released). There's a big ol' flock that lives in an abandoned garage across the street from her that periodically goes on walkabout. Roux stayed in the yard and was pretty much a loner, "talking" to my friends and doing the rooster dance with them, eating bugs they turned up as they established their yard... then someone stole him. They were very sad.

It's common for kids to carry a chicken around, toss it in your yard, and then come onto your property to "catch their runaway chicken".

Another friend in the Lower Garden District had a rooster move in under her house as well. Dunno what the at-large chicken population is in her neighborhood tho.
