It came out of a blue egg....

Ok, so if my hens that lay "pink"(I don't call them pink,they are almost white) are bred to a rooster with the blue gene the resulting chicks could possibly lay blue/green eggs themselves even though their mother did not? Do I have that right?

Thanks. I hatched some from blue/green eggs and some from beige colored eggs. My hens are straight combed but my roos aren't. I was hoping at least one would lay blue/green eggs(they were so dark and pretty!) but it just didn't turn out that way but I thought I was right on this and could still end up with blue/green egg layers from the babies.
