Thanks for sharing your story ! I do have to ask though....What's an "OH"? and What's a "Degu"?

We had another escapee pullet. She had a swollen lump by her cheek, next to her beak, I think from getting pecked. I put her in the "quarantine pen" not thinking that she would escape because she was kind of little (forgot to do the test and squeeze her through the fencing to see if she would go through or is fat enough to not be able to fit). I thought she would enjoy her solitude away from all those cockerels. But I think she escaped in the morning before I got up. After my son discovered she wasn't in the pen, I called and called and called for her all morning (but she wasn't my chicken - just a friend's we are trying to sell/give away) and she didn't respond. Later I found out, one of the pets had gotten her and left her at the back porch. My husband tossed her into the compost pile thinking it was one of the dead bodies that the bobcat had previously gotten. I told him I always have Korbin bury the dead chicken bodies so it doesn't attract any more animals.

I'm going to have my son read your story. He trains some of his chickens to sit up on his shoulder. It's sweet.

Thanks,
