It has stopped peeping!! updatepage 3 pics too!

Here's a quick story..............

Had a batch this weekend hatching. First one to pip (call him Beaker) had his beak out and that was it. Looked like some yolk had leaked out because it stuck to the paper towel I had in there. He hollared for two days thought that hole. Everyone else hatched great. On the third day I had had enough. Figured he wasn't going to make. I helped him out and he is fine.

Just goes to show how tough these little guys are.

Thank you everyone for your input, I will calm down and leave things alone. I am not willing to buy into the 'if it doesnt happen naturally, it wasnt meant to be' philosophy with this egg, as it started out 'unnaturally' in someones incubator, and only got slid under a hen the night before it was due to hatch! We may have screwed up the humidity or the egg shell may have been too thick cause of egg layer feed, etc etc etc! Way to many human introduced variables for me to believe or feel comfortable with the 'only the strong should survive' at this point!

The first chick hatched naturally under the hen out in the coop, and it all went well, , but we couldnt leave him out there with our other hens..... a couple are not trust worthy, so now I have this little family right on my desk, and it hard not to be emotionally tied into this egg! Sheesh, now I know how those cartoon smoking dads felt! Man!

Well, thanks again to everyone, and I will update as we move along....

Update...

Well, all is well, the little bugger hatched last night after all my fears, unzipped the egg all the way around, and was dry and fluffy by 4 am! It is a cute little golden colored silkie with a darker colored back! We were hoping for a blue or buff, so maybe we got both?

Thanks everyone for all your advice....
