It is driving me nuts!

One of my eggs pipped and the tiny pieces of eggshell flaked off exposing the white membrane underneath. I can see the motion of the little chicks beak going back and forth across it. It is maddening to see it trying so hard yet getting nowhere. My temp is 100.8 and humidity is 80 . Maybe the best thing to do is not to look again until tomorrow?

Yes. You just have to remember: they do this to get thier strength to hatch. If you help them , they will die.

The chick is out! I watched the whole thing. It seems the zipping went really fast and then the chick rested a bit then just popped out. I have another pip starting up. Wow it was amazing.

So neat to watch. Then you go to bed and wake up and have 3 times more hatched it's a great feeling

Yay for pipping and zipping! The title of this thread keeps cracking me up, considering it is the punchline to one of my favorite jokes!

Sometimes the chicks pip and zip and are out in minutes and sometimes from pip to zip it can take hrs, up to around 24.
