It is so dry the old pool ring is 2 months early!

We moved here 11 years ago or so and the year we bought our house it was so dry there were 1 inch cracks in our ground in our field. Also didn't know it, but large ring in back yard where previous owners had sand down for a pool shows really well during dry spells. We have never seen that dry ring in June! Let alone early June! usually mid August before the kids "race track" of dry grass shows up.

I watered my garden and new trees we planted in the last year tonight, so I really can see how dry it is. In contrast, last year we built our coop, we barely had a dry day to work on it, and I didn't see my chickens dust bathe until December because there was no dust!

What a difference a year makes, anyone else parched this year?

We are in Northwest Ohio, and are having the same dry spell. The crops sure could use a good soaking. The farmers who got their corn & beans in early are having some success, but the farmer who works the land next to ours was behind in planting and it is a total dust bowl. So far, he is a weed farmer. Not much else has sprouted.

There are some good things about the sparse rain though; no flooding. In 2007 it rained so hard our entire town became engulfed in overflow from the river and SO MANY lost everything.

It would be nice to find a happy medium.... but we Ohioans have a saying:

If you don't like the weather, give it 24 hours. It will be completely different.

NE Ohio here.When we did have those days of rain I was excecpting my yard to flood as it always does,but the ground just soaked it all up. I don't mind it,but sure hate paying for the water for my plants.

In Missouri, we say "Wait 10 minutes" LOL

But yes, it would be nice if the weather would be more consistant. DH is watering the front lawn...I told him if you water it, you have to mow it. Not to mentions, it's like washing the car...you just bring the rain. Haha
