Ha!! That sounds like something my mother would do!

I know the feeling. We used to have a little of everything poultry wise. We had to cut back on the amount of we have. As we are having the third go around of hatching with three incubators full! Lol! We moved to a smaller acerage place with closer neighbors. Our local TSC also has a farmers market two Saturdays a month. April thru Oct. I came out of the store last spring just as my wife and kids are putting two pygmy goats in the back of the truck! I guess that was payback for going to get lawnmower gas and coming home with a tiller. Lol!
With the addition of the goats. We are at the limit of hoof stock our little place will handle. We had been checking TSC and the other farm stores for more Silkies. We are wanting to add a little more color to our flock. No stores around here has had them. We finally found some hatching eggs. Which will allow us to start our flock in the direction we want it to go. Not only more color, but smaller birds. The Silkies we got from TSC are pretty big. Just the opposite of the recently aquired OEGBs. They are so small the roo cannot even make a decent crow. I guess that is how it goes when it just happens though. Kinda like my little tiller I got from the scrap hauler at the gas station. Get what works and improve and make it to your liking as time and money allow.
I am in missouri. One of our old neighbors kept Silkies just to set eggs under. Hers always set tight on a clutch of eggs. I hope yours does also. Our Silkie eggs should hatch this weekend. I am going to hatch some American Gamefowl Bantams next. After that, other than giving a broody hen a job. We should be done hatching for the year.
