It this normal?

i just want to say thanks to everyone who helped..it really did. i dont have any family and not alot of friends i could find help for stuff with..so i really appreciate the help. thank you so much. this was really hard and nerve racking. so its good to know there are genuinely good people here willing to help. not what i expected with the way the world is today...thanks :-D

the best way to achieve world peace, is to pass out chickens.

most people who have poultry are willing to help each other. most of us on here are obsessed with poultry, and have been through what you have just experienced.

best of luck on future hatches!

I'm glad to hear it ended well for you. And it was a great hatch, all things considered. You did very well! You had a steep learning curve here, but that experience will help you in future, if there are problems. Good luck with your future hatches and let us know when you hatch again. We're here if you need someone to talk to.

Thank you. all are still ok. except the last 2 are kinda weak. and the last one finished is very weak too. i cant tell for sure cause ive never seen it before but i think the last one has wry neck. it looks like he has gravity pulling him backwards. everytime i pick him up it either passed out asleep instantly or went limp. its gotten a little better now. he can actually lay his head forward sometimes. ill keep them separate with a close eye on them. ..and i tried using the toothbrush gently to get the goo off the feathers and it actually worked pretty darn good.. so thank you for all the good advice everyone

They are usually a bit weak and not very active for the first day or so after hatching, especially if they had a difficult, drawn out hatch. Hatching is hard work! If you can get some chick saver, offer it some of that to give it a boost. Also offer it some water and wet some chick crumbs with warm water and see if it will take that. Good luck with the little ones.

Ok. ill try that. i tired a syrnge with a couple drops of sugar water and it wouldnt take it. so i dipped its beak in water and it passed out with the whole head going right in like a dive..lol. i thought ..bad idea..bad idea!! lol. but ill give it a little more sleep time and try what you said. and start looking for the chick saver tomorrow morning. the other ones are doing good and are so cute. i put my hand down and they all push eachother off so they can cuddle with my hand. the abdomens are all getting better but only time will tell. if it wasnt for your help things could be totally different.

Poor thing must be pooped after the hatch. I'm glad the others are doing so well. They are imprinting on you and it's the most wonderful, irresistible thing, when they adore you so much and they want to cuddle with you and follow you around like you are their Mom. Mine got so exited when they saw, I couldn't ignore them! lol So, watch out! Those little things are almost too loveable.
