I went into our local Co-Op today looking for a bottle of disinfectant for the borrowed brooder and a chick feeder base and saw that they had a bin of Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets there that were just GORGEOUS. I also saw a sheet of paper tacked up by the bins with the other breeds they will be offering and the dates those will arrive. Such a simple and brilliant idea! Alas, they did not have the small sized bottle of disinfectant (and I'm not buying a whole gallon for one brooder!) but they are ordering more and told me it will be in on Friday which means I'll have to go back. Eeek! It's easy enough for me to pass on the straight run chicks at that other store but these were nice looking pullets in a squeaky clean brooder with adults watching over them! I'm hoping they'll be all sold out by Friday.

Eeek! I had to do the same thing. The feed store I buy from displays theirs just like this. They only order pullets and keep them in tidy little broders in the store. Its a small rural area so they always have some chicks.. but yesterday their shipment came in and they had some beautiful little SLW and as soon as I walked in she asked if I needed a box.. alas I walked out empty handed. However I had already told myself if they had a Maran I would snag it.. BUT.. the only the Cuckoo Marans she had were special ordered roos for a customer.. darn.. lol..
