I am with you Eric Shane. Here in Illinois they live year round around the ponds and lakes, and even take up with the domestic ducks, so to hear or see them flying in fomration is no big deal. . .just don't look up with your mouth open!!! You just never know!!!

yeah.. lol.. They are EVERYWHERE here too.. I dont think its legal, but sooo many people around here kill them by the hundreds from what I hear.. its kind of sad *sniffles* makes me think of that movie "Fly Away Home"

We see that around here.. Not alot of them. But at least 3-5 formations at different times.. maybe more that I dont see.. 15 minutes from where I live their is a pair that stay all year..

I love seeing geese fly too; even though I lived in area where they are pests.

One of my best memories is of a spring break in South Dakota (when you go to college in Minnesota, and are poor, you don't go to South Padre for spring break) and seeing the spring migration....there were probably millions of birds. It looked like dark clouds, and you could hear them honking and quacking. One of the most awe inspiring natural wonders I've seen.

And for those who commented on how cool it would be to see lizards...I've lived in Texas for 15 years, and I still think the geckos and anoles are way cool. And the fact that I live in a state that has palm trees still boggles the mind.

I guess I'm easily amused.

Wow, that is so cool. When they come here for the winter, I am amazed the the sheer numbers of them. How do they not run into one another?? LOL Thousands of them in the fields behind our place.
I haven't seen them in a couple of months, but sure is nice to see them back after a long hot summer. Cooler weather is on the way.

For some reason, a rather 'confused' flock of those birds have taken up residence at the ranch. Don't they realize they're not up north yet? They're starting to make nests and everything. Been there for almost a month. While I do enjoy watching them fly around, it's not so enjoyable when they mess up the hay barrels or jump out of tall grass and 'startle' my horse. Grrr...

I love watching them fly south in the fall. Though the honking usually gets the dogs to barking like crazy!

Yeah, we got the long legged birds and lizards but when I went to Florida it as awsome. There are different breeds of lizards all over the place. Everywhere you look there are lizards.

Here we are used to seeing the geese but not only Canadian. WE actually her them before we see them. There are lakes and ponds everywhere here. During duck season you can to to Reelfoot Lake area and see more ducks than you can imagine possible in one space. They have towers you can get in to watch them. Really cool.

I don't ever remember seeing that many go over here and the last time I saw them was I was a teenager, I'll be 46 this month! This is the desert Southwest,, we do have some wildlife wetlands near us, but I'll be anyone who saw them was as shocked as I was. Steven was on the roof helping with the AC and almost fell off he was so excited!

The migratory flocks fly directly over the house every winter.... love them.... hate to see them leave in the Spring..... wonderful ......

The swifts have not long "flown in" from Africa and are currently making their nests in the stables.... can't wait to see the chicks emerge for first flight....
