Our chicks are 7-8 weeks old now and have been in an in-coop brooder since about 2 weeks old. Today when I went out to see them they were all out in the run playing, roosting, and drinking from the main waterers. Easiest integration ever.

I first saw the idea on here - had not occurred to me. I hope it works for you if you do try it!
Yeah! Currently I only have 3 and 4 week old chicks but when they start laying around the end of the year or later I want to incubate some eggs or buy some BLRW eggs and hatch them. I might use a broody as well, but that will be later next year. :)

We got our first chicks in September so raising them outside wouldn't have worked. My daughter has been dying for one to go broody but instead we bought day old (and 5 day old) chicks in May. I'm hoping they are one big happy flock now.

Chicks are fun, but I can’t wait for them to start getting more of a personality and get bigger
Our big ones are full of personality, lol, so I hear you. Although our biggest chicks (the cockerels anyway) are bigger than our full grown bantams now! Here are a couple of our older girls:

I had 12 chickens when I lived in a suburban house, but they got MG and it was bad so we had to put them down. I wish I would of used the coop brooder because I lost a chick to pecking. I now live in the country and have 40 chicks and 2 geese! I will definitely have to try this method in the future!

Oh my gosh! Is willow an EE? She is sooo pretty! Do you have pictures of what she looked like as a chick?

Oh no I'm so sorry to hear about your first chickens :(

Yes she's an EE. We have 3 and the other 2 are really pretty too. Willow and Olive were chipmunk chicks - I'll find some pictures
