I know I voted for Black Sex Link BEFORE I saw the pictures - so after seeing the pictures I'd change my vote to the old red sex link - I only voted for the Black Sex Link because of it's age and the age of the red sex link. But the combs look more like the RSL would be the true layer of that egg. Are you going to spy on her today and see if you get another?

Definitally. If she lays me another one, and it's the red sex link, I definitally have a super chicken!!! Yeah, I think the black sex links are maturing slowly, because it's winter.

My guess would be the RSL. I have 6 BSL and they started laying at 20 weeks, but their combs were much bigger....more like your RSL. I also provide extra daylight during the winter, so that may be part of the difference.

Well, I think the secret is out!

Luna was in the coop this morning, making herself a nest! She's yet to lay, but she's in the same spot she layed last time, which is, unfortunatally, not in the nesting box. Ah well. The cute thing is that Redtail, her BFF is on the roost, watching over her.

What a good girl!
