My 1 year old duck had an episode this summer of a seizure…it was determined that he had a vitamin deficiency. He also wound up with wry neck and had since recovered. Ever since, he has been madly scratching his neck. We were finally able to pick him up and take a closer look. He is losing feathers because of the scratching…it just looks dry. It’s been -15 the last couple days. Any ideas?! Thank you in advance!

:welcome

Sorry to hear he's been having so many issues, but it sounds like you've been taking good care of him. The dry spots may be caused by the lack of humidity in the air. Where are you located and what kind of housing does he have?

I live in Northern Wisconsin…been super cold and definitely not humid! I actually put some jojoba oil with lavender, vitamin E and frankincense in it today! He’s not the easiest to catch, but I had to try something! I’ll keep it up and let you know how it goes! He is in an insulated coop at night with pine chips for bedding. Outside during the day(I kept them in for a few days out of the wind and -15 degrees.
