Itching

Hi
I’m new chicken mamma ….. my 13 week old pullets are all “itching down to where the skin is and the feathers start . I have noticed some baby fluffy feathers lying around. Is this normal? Or could they have mites? And what treats mites ? They are otherwise eating and drinking fine . Thanks

No, How do you do that ? I can’t pick them up yet !

Well you have to pick them up a look through their feathers. Why can't you pick them up yet?

They could also just be preening. Pullets and cockerels go through a series of mounts and a lot of new feathers grow in. They frequently pick at these to work the cuticle and fluff them out
