Hello all,

I purchased 2 Light Brahmas & 2 Buff Orpingtons today (all pullets).

1) What type of bird , age and weight.

See above ~ they range between 4 and 6 months.

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

Seem normal.

3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

None that I can see.

4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

N/A

5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

As far as I know, just laying pellets and water.

6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

At least 2 if not all 4 have runny poop ~ no blood.

7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

That is why I am asking ~ I need to know where to start first.

8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

Would like to treat myself if possible.

9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

N/A

10) Describe the housing/bedding in use

They were in a pen *decent size* with no roof. Lots of rain in the past month and the place stunk to high heaven with poop. The birds stink bad. They appear fat and healthy looking, eating well, but am concerned about the runny poop...pure liquid.

They are now in a dry coop with fresh shavings and a roof.

I fed them some plain yogurt but need to know where I go from here. Worm them? What do I need to do to treat the diarreah.

Are there any healthy treats I can give them for their digestive tract?

I will call him tomorrow to see if they have ever been wormed.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry...I'm not experienced enough to advise you. But I'm happy to hear that these birds have a nicer, more comfortable life now thanks to you!

And hopefully someone with more knowledge can advise you...

Sounds like you are doing great so far. They dont sound too bad off. i would definately treat for worms and mites. Worms can make runny poo and you wont necessarily see the worms in it. Maybe clean them up with a bath if your up to it but beyond that, sounds like you have it covered.
