it's 7 degrees outside - should I just leave the birds in the coop?

Maybe the ones in heated coops don't want to go outside. And the ones in unheated coops are used to being cold and it's not much difference from inside to outside.

we were down to 0 on Saturday night and today its nearly that cold. i was worried about mine but they all seemed fine in the coop with no heat. my DH did make a little nest of straw for the blind girl who can't get up on the roost with everyone else.

i think today i will make them some warm snacks and take it down there, they've done so well.

OHChick-- A great warmer-upper that they love is hot (yes HOT) pasta. I give mine hot pasta before they go to roost on bitter cold nights, and again first thing in the morning. I use little elbows and take it to the coop and throw it in their treat bowl. They mob the bowl! Its great, because of high carbohydrates that turns to fuel (like cracked corn) that warms their systems up, and prepares them for a cold night. Also gets them going for the day. Mine absolutely love it.
