( in the 1600s there were no steel guns, as far as I know, they were flintlock pistols and black powder muskets. Neither were very good, at all, during this time. The most accurate are crossbows and longbows for this time period, and less expensive to make. Plus really great feathers are easy to come by, so fletching isn't a problem, for them.
The humans have lately been attacking in retaliation to the late king, who took sport in massacre of humans, thus causing the latest attacks. Neither attack was in earnest, the second one a sniper to take down the king. Since the sniper was killed, and no other humans found, it is unknown if more are coming or if they know that they have killed the king. Either way, the Queen may or may not remarry.)

Shoot! I'd better get back to the kitchen before the kitchen maid notices I've been gone for a while! Thinks Emily frantically. She takes off from the high treetop she is perched on and glides back home with all speed, hoping to make it in before getting her ears boxed.

Unfortunately for Emily, she didn't make it back in time to escape notice. Trying to creep in the kitchen door, Emily got knocked in the ear, with the kitchen maid yelling. " Emily! Where have you been! The fire got too low, and I need you to help with the entrail pile outside for the scavengers who don't feel like leaving and don't want cooked meals. Get on it, Emily, and no more goofing off!" The kitchen maid had her hands on her hips, and turned in a huff, to help the cook with dinner.

Emily grumbled, straightening her apron. Her head throbbed just a little, and after all, she was out there just goofing around. Sighing, she poked the fire and stirred the stockpot briefly before getting the bucket of fresh(sort of) entrails for the scavenger pile. Once that business was over, she had plenty of prep work, cleaning, scrubbing, dishes, a never-ending parade of things to do.
She rolled up her sleeves.

Aiveron decided to head on out to the scavenger pile since his appetite has returned. He shifted and flew out the window to circle around back to see what goodies they had. He was in luck, there were some fresher offerings, much to his delight. He landed on the ground to hop over to the pile happily.

Vivian flew to the pile, singled out a delicious piece of meat, and started tearing it apart and eating it.
