"It's not good, according to the report we are the only remaining kingdom"
Lillia thought about that. She hadn't really thought any kingdoms had survived, and she was correct.

"Well, that does remove the kingdoms that desired more land and riches. But a few of them were very helpful, so it is a shame that they are gone." She said. The humans had become very powerful, powerful enough to destroy an entire kingdom.

Reptar noticed Lyra's glance and explained why Aiveron was sore with him. "One day, Aiveron will meet the right one and she'll not be like that twit Beatrice. You remember her? That fool who tried to love us both? That one broke his heat terribly." He reminisced as they walked.

Aiveron closed his eyes as he heard the echoed reminder of his first love, Beatrice. He sighed softly, as he took out the folded parchment from his breast pocket and looked at it quietly. Perhaps that was the true reason he loved from afar now. Not so much in fear of his brother's actions, but from the intimacy of being rejected so callously.

Lyra frowned a little and nodded. "I never did like her."

"Yes, it truly is terrible"

Reptar shook his head as he started telling her all that had happened, ending with the kings death. "It's not the same around here." He replied softly.
Lyra listened then sighed and nodded "Everything changes, some for the better, some not." She said then looked around and smiled a little as she realized they were near the kitchens now.

"I miss the grand meals we used to have in the great hall. It seems a shame that we no longer feast together, but separately now. But I suppose we are just to out of practice from the war. Maybe queen Lillia will start those again. Since we are all that are left of the kingdoms, perhaps it will bring us all closer." Reptar stated as he opened the door for Lyra.

With the meals prepared and ready for everyone, Emily took her portion back to the scullery to eat and tend the fire and the stockpot. She was all about that steak and kidney pie, and the fromage blanc on bread.

Magatha slowly got herself up off her stool, leaning heavily on her cane while picking the stool up. She hobbled back to the henhouse, all the hens dutifully following her, knowing she would feed them something special when she put them away.
